Our story at
THE SHIP
The heart of the village
The Ship has proudly sat at the heart of the small, picturesque village of Upavon in Wiltshire since 1866.
Complete with thatched roof, low beams, and an open log fire. The lovely beer garden with a wood-fired oven is perfect for catching up with friends. Our food is sustainable & fresh and our ales are local.
The village is set in the sweeping Vale of Pewsey, on the edge of Salisbury Plain, 10 miles north of the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge and a stones throw from Avebury stone circle.
Upavon is surrounded by rolling chalk hills and the River Avon and is one of the county’s most picturesque spots - timeless and captivating with much to explore.
Taking over at the helm, Chris & Dionne arrived in the spring of 2025, setting The Ship on a new course, upholding tradition, history and local values along the way.
Giving a warm and friendly welcome to all our customers – from our faithful regulars, to visitors passing through, to those who pop in on occasions to catch up on village gossip! The Ship is truly a place where “everybody knows your name”.
Looking to 2026, The Ship underwent a beautiful well considered refurbishment in January and our new menu launched on 4th June!
“Upholding the values of village life, the pub serves as our gathering place”
